Discovery Channel - new international series
Helen Miller <[email protected]>

from [email protected]
I hope you don’t mind me contacting you but I am working on a new major international Discovery series looking at fascinating and intriguing things man is doing in the name of science. This 8 part series explores the science behind man-made phenomena, creations and places. This could be anything from cutting edge technology to extraordinary tasks being carried out in the name of science to a scientific detective story trying to explain strange occurrence on our planet.
One of the stories we are looking into is the Jefferson Island Disaster and we are interested in including already shot general footage of oil drilling to complement this segment. Is this something that Fox oil drilling could help us with? Perhaps from a promotional video?
Please find my contact details listed below and please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards,
Helen

Dear Ms. Miller,
Sorry for this late reply. There is a lot of information regarding oil drilling and exploration on our website at Fox Oil Drilling Company. I don't have any footage on hand of the rigs in operation, but with enough advance notice I'm sure I can have something put together for you. Fox Oil Drilling is privately-held so we have no need for a promotional video.
I don't mind at all you contacting me and I apologize I couldn't get back to you in a timely manner. If you have any further questions about oil drilling or oil and gas exploration, please feel free to ask me. I will do my best to get back to you quickly. I have tried to have our website be a resource for those wanting to broaden their knowledge of the oil & gas industry:
http://www.foxoildrilling.com/americas-1-oil--gas-resources-guide.html
I was pleasantly surprised when the leading oil and gas publication, Oil & Gas Journal, asked us to promote their publications on our site.
http://www.foxoildrilling.com/links.html
http://www.foxoildrilling.com/oil-drilling-industry-membership-associations.html
We have been an important oil and gas resource for Bloomberg Businessweek.
http://www.foxoildrilling.com/bloomberg-businessweek.html
When they re-launched their video news pages they asked us to promote their videos on our site:
http://www.foxoildrilling.com/videos.html
I think there are a lot of untold stories about the men and women involved in the search for oil and gas. The science is incredible and the technology is truly amazing. I have a page on our website paying tribute to these dedicated workers:

Hello Jason,
I left a message for you about the TV series Licence to Drill. I hope that you consider working with us to feature Fox oil and Drilling on the 4th season of the series.
Licence To Drill is a documentary series about oil and gas companies and its industry. We focus on the science, technology, and the people in the field who do the drilling.
We are nothing like current TV shows Black Gold or The Rig.
You can watch episodes of the show at:
http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/licence-to-drill/
The show is created by Montreal-based Pixcom Productions for Discovery Canada. The series also airs on Discovery Science in the US under the name Cold Diggers, as well as on several Discovery Europe networks. In addition to winning a Gemini Award (Canadian Emmy), the series was presented with a Petroleum History Society Preservation Award in 2010. Licence to Drill is also used by industry officials and schools for educational purposes.
In the three previous seasons, we've worked with MGM, Nabors, Akita Drilling, Penwest, Bonanza, and many others. Our film crew is small (3 people), safety trained, and H2S certified. In three seasons of filming on rigs we have not had one complaint or safety incident.
We have never filmed on an offshore rig and are interested in the prospect of showcasing the incredible technologies which go into this type of operation. We understand that our crew would need to get the proper safety certification to work offshore and are prepared to get them any extra certifications you may require.
We typically film on 2 different rigs through the series so we could possibly showcase both your offshore and your land drilling rigs if you were to participate.
Participation in the series is an excellent opportunity for companies to educate the public about the industry and for drilling companies to attract the top talent to their rigs. It can also be a chance for you to showcase any developments you have made in rig design or technology.
We will be filming the 4th season of the series this Summer to be aired in the Spring of 2014. There is no cost to your company for participation in the series.
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the filming. You can reach me by email or on my cell.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best,
Stacey

Hi Jason,
I am working on Licence To Drill, a documentary series about oil and gas industry which airs on the Discovery Channel in Canada and Europe and on the Science channel in the USA (under the title Cold Diggers).
I am writing to see if you would be interested in featuring Fox Oil / Drilling on the 4th season of the series. I have included some more information about the series in this email for your consideration.
Ideally we could set up a time to speak about this opportunity in greater detail. There is absolutely no cost to your company to be featured on the show. We are fully financed by Discovery.
Please let me know when would be a good time to call.
I look forward to chatting with you soon.
Best,
Stacey
